Peekskill Rotary Recognizes Local Highs School Academic & Fellowship Achievers

Peekskill Rotary President Sibyl Canaan (left) on May 31 presented the club’s annual Academic and Fellowship Awards to graduating students at three local high schools.  2007 award winners are (from left) Samantha Ruff, Kimberly Davis, Danielle Bogdanowicz, Janessa Straker, Jessica Harris and Keith Travis.

Each year the Peekskill Rotary Club recognizes exceptional graduating seniors from Hendrick Hudson, Peekskill and Walter Panas high schools with Academic and Fellowship awards. Recipients are selected by high school counselors and club representatives.

The Academic Award of $500 goes to the highest academic achiever, the valedictorian, of each graduating class. Rotary Academic Award winners in 2007 are:

»  Jessica Harris — Hendrick Hudson High School
»  Keith Travis — Peekskill High School
»  Danielle Bogdanowicz — Walter Panas High School

The Fellowship Award of $500 is given to the student not only with high academic achievement, but also demonstrated leadership among students. Perhaps they are the class president, run the school newspaper, are active in community outreach programs or Interact club membership, or have other distinguishing characteristics. Rotary Fellowship Award winners in 2007 are:

»  Samantha Ruff — Hendrick Hudson High School
»  Janessa Straker — Peekskill High School
»  Kimberly Davis — Walter Panas High School
