Peekskill High School Interact Club Receives Point of Light Award

The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network on Jan. 21 gave its Daily Point of Light Award to the Peekskill High School Interact Club for its continuing contributions to the Peekskill community.

The Daily Point of Light Award honors individuals and volunteer groups that have made a commitment to connect Americans through service to help meet critical needs in their communities. It focuses on the goals for children and youth set by the President's Summit for America's Future. Each weekday, one volunteer or volunteer effort in the country receives a Daily Point of Light Award.

The full citation for the award to the PHS Interact Club can be read by clicking here.

The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network engages and mobilizes millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social problems in thousands of communities. Through a variety of programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life — businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, low-income communities, families, youth, and older adults — to volunteer.

Based in Washington, D.C., the Foundation advocates community service through a partnership with the Volunteer Center National Network. Together, they reach millions of people in thousands of communities to help mobilize people and resources, which deliver solutions that address community problems.

The Foundation has gained a national reputation as America's Address for Volunteering. As President George W. Bush commented, "The Points of Light Foundation embodies America's spirit of volunteerism and the goodwill of its citizens."

More than 100 million people in this country volunteer their time, talent and energy to help others, solve social problems and build strong communities. These volunteers represent all backgrounds and beliefs and range in age from 5-95, but share the common goal of working to make a difference.

The awards and recognition programs of the Points of Light Foundation celebrate the success of these volunteers and spotlight the impact that various individuals, groups, businesses and families have made in their communities.
