 Rotary Golf 2006: Duffers Enjoy Fellowship and Service to Our Community
The 30th Annual Peekskill Rotary Ben Andrews Golf Outing was held June 20 at the beautiful Beekman Country Club in Hopewell Junction. Seventy nine golfers participated in the event and enjoyed an exciting day of fellowship, golf and good food.
Rotarian Joe Morzillo chaired the event, with support from Bruce Lindenbaum and Larry DeNoia. Morzillo said the outing raised $3,500 for the Rotary Foundation, funds that will go directly back into worthy local charities in Peekskill and Cortlandt.
The course was in excellent condition, the weather perfect (88.7°) for golf, and the lunch served up by the Beekman CC staff hit the sweet spot. While everyone enjoyed themselves regardless of their scores, no one took home the Buick donated by Geis Auto Mall as a prize for a hole-in-one on the par 3, 4th hole of the Highland Course.
After the round, the golfers enjoyed a superb buffet dinner at Cortlandt Colonial restaurant. During dinner, trophies were awarded to the winning golfers (see winners below). In addition, major prizes donated by Geis Auto Mall, N. Dains & Son and Guide Communications were raffled off. Among other area businesses donating auction and dinner prizes were Beekman Country Club, Rivertowns Realty, Hudson Valley Bank, Esposito Builders, Union State Bank, Crystal Bay Grill Room, Cortlandt Colonial, Weeks Jewelers, Revenna Restaurant, Henry’s on the Hudson and Redhat Restaurant. Club members who donated prizes were Andrea Blizard, Sibyl Canaan, Tony Curinga, Howard Copeland, Bruce Lindenbaum and Wendy Harrington.
Said Morzillo, “We thank the merchants who donated items for the raffle and auction, and the golfers who bid generously on them. Whether our guests played golf or not, we thank everyone for supporting our efforts. It’s a pleasure being able to contribute to the Rotary tradition of raising money to help people in need.”
