The Salvation Army has always been blessed to have committed volunteers and service clubs such as Rotary to support our services to our local community. The Salvation Army is proud to have many officers whom are also Rotarians.
The Rotary club of Peekskill has been so helpful to our organization in reaching our goals for the City of Peekskill. They are a commendable group, as they have unselfishly committed themselves to dedicating some of their time at Christmas to ringing bells and standing with our red kettles to help raise money to serve our community. They have won the "Bell Ringer" award for several consecutive years.
Because of their help and the help of other volunteers, we are able to provide many services to the community. Some of these services include, but are not limited to
- Providing toys and clothing for children and a food basket complete to prepare a Christmas meal for each family whom applies for assistance;
- Serving a well balanced meal on Saturdays and Sundays in our soup kitchen;
- Preparing bags of food for individuals and/or families who need assistance;
- Sending children to Star Lake Camp, a Salvation Army camp complete with fun activities, and life application skills;
- Assisting with fires and emergencies when called upon.
The Peekskill Rotary has always been there for The Salvation Army to do what ever it takes to reach out and lend a helping hand. And for that, we are forever grateful. Thank you to all our volunteers and Rotarians on behalf of The Salvation Army and those to whom you've given much hope and a bright future!
