Hendrick Hudson High School graduate Peter Fusco was awarded the 2007 Dr. Joseph B. Fontana Scholarship for the Arts on June 14. The $1,000 award will help support his studies toward earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal.
Graduating seniors of Hendrick Hudson, Peekskill and Walter Panas High Schools who will be continuing their education in the field of music as a major or minor were eligible for this scholarship.
This scholarship, established in honor of Past Rotary District Governor Dr. Joseph B. Fontana, is awarded yearly to a deserving student who has been accepted and enrolled at a college, university, conservatory or school of music, and will pursue instrumental or vocal music studies.
The student is selected by a committee appointed by the President of the Rotary Club of Peekskill. In considering candidates, the committee evaluates their audio presentations submitted with applications, faculty recommendations, overall academic records and participation in school activities.
