Peekskill’s Jasmine Peruyero Receives $1,000 Rotary Scholarship

Peekskill Rotary President Sibyl Canaan (left) presented Peekskill High School Senior Jasmine Peruyero (second from left) with the club’s first ever Hispanic Scholarship. Peekskill High guidance counselors Daisy Rivera and Zorayda Saldana were there to extol Peruyero’s accomplishments.

The winner of the first Rotary Hispanic Scholarship is Jasmine Peruyero from Peekskill High School . She was a member of our Peekskill Interact Club for the past three years. She cooks and serves meals at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen rings holiday bells for the Army to raise funds for the group’s services.. She has volunteered at Drum Hill and many other community service organizations. She has been perfecting her cooking skills at the Division Street Grill (part of the high school PIES program.) She is active in the Drama Club, Student Council, Mercy College S.T.E.P. program, and is a member of the National Honor Society. The introduction was made by Zorayda Saldana and Daisy Rivera, Peekskill High School Guidance Counselors.
