Peekskill graduating seniors Juan Carlos Lopez and Michael DeLuca were recipients of 2007 George Sampson Scholarships. The scholarship, funded by the estate of former Peekskill Rotary Club President and Paul Harris Fellow George Sampson, is awarded each year to two graduating seniors from Hendrick Hudson, Peekskill or Walter Panas High Schools.
The award must be used to assist graduating students in purchasing tools for a craft, or furthering their specialized schooling or apprenticeship. Selection by a committee of Rotarians is based on focus and need. Each of the two recipients received a $500 award.
