What is the Peekskill Rotary Blood 4 Rotary Challenge?

Peekskill Rotary President Don Rizzo challenges you to donate blood or make a charitable donation of $25 or more. After donating blood or making a charitable donation to the Peekskill Rotary Foundation: 

  • Post on social media using the hashtag #Blood4Rotary. 
  • Name three of your friends on social media and challenge them to do the same.
  • Post to the Peekskill Rotary's Facebook page and use the #Blood4Rotary hashtag.

How to Donate Blood?

It is easy to make a donation appointment. Visit the New York Blood Center's website and search by zip code for a mobile drive near you or find a Donor Center near you. If you are not from the New York area, search for "blood drive near me" in your browser of choice.

Who receives the blood donations?

The blood will be used by the blood bank or donor center that you choose to use.

Where should I donate blood?

Donate wherever convenient.  This is a general promotion to increase blood donors everywhere and not a specific blood drive.

Should I alert the donor center that I am donating to Blood 4 Rotary?

This is not necessary as your blood donation will go to whomever needs it as this is not a targeted blood donation or drive.

What if I cannot donate blood?

Instead of blood you can choose to donate by making a charitable contribution to the Peekskill Rotary Foundation OR the charity of your choice. We are suggesting a $25 donation and welcome larger donations, but anything is welcome and appreciated.

What does the Peekskill Rotary Club support?

The Peekskill Rotary Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Rotary Club of Peekskill is a philanthropic and social organization under Rotary International which can be best understood via the Rotary International website. Rotary International is a top rated 4 Star charity on Charity Navigator

The Rotary Club of Peekskill supports many local charities and scholarships. On a larger scale our club supports the following larger initiatives:

  • Gift of Life: Performs lifesaving operations on children with congenital heart defects.

  • Literacy Lovers: Encourages children to develop a life-long love of reading by getting books into their homes at an early age. Peekskill Rotary’s “Golden Bookshelves” also supports the community initiative, "The Peekskill Basics," modeled after the Boston Basics project. Peekskill Basics focuses on i.) promoting early childhood literacy and ii.) enhancing parenting skills that help children achieve their educational potential.
